“Like a child standing in a beautiful park with his eyes shut tight, there's no need to imagine trees, flowers, deer, birds, and sky; we merely need to open our eyes and realize what is already here, who we already are - as soon as we stop pretending we're small or unholy.” ~ Bo Lozoff
It occurred to me today, that though we are always talking over 'mindfulness' ~ we seem to be doing so circularly, and with no end...
Not that there's anything wrong, at all, you see ~ with letting the conversations become whatever they most wish to be...
However, it is still curious to me, nonetheless ~ that a concept so very simple in construct, might lead to a process that is so perfectly never-ending.
Perhaps, this is the essence of that which we call mindfulness? This delightful practice of continuously looking within?
And yet, if you were to ask just one other person ~ you'll wonder...how it is that mindfulness can take on so very many meanings?
Character for Mindfulness |
Myself?
I quite like the traditional character for 'mindfulness,' pronounced, 'niàn.'
I like it because it shows that mindfulness can no exist simply onto itself. That mindfulness must be comprised of two most critical parts - that is, 'jin' which means now...and 'xin', which means heart.
So perhaps, in its most simplest form and description ~ mindfulness is less about the philosophical discussions, and more about keeping our hearts always present?
At least, that is what I would very much like to believe ~ as, it keeps things much simpler here on my end.
Much love my most beautiful friends ~ and here's to keeping our hearts right here in this moment, which is where they've always most wished to belong.
